BISMUTHUM. [Bismuth.] Hydrated oxide of Bismuth. Hahnemann. Bi2 O2 OH2.

► Dulness, heaviness of head. ► Solitude is unbearable ; desire for company. ► Unstable minded : begins now this, again that, holds but a short time to any one thing. ► Surly and dissatisfied with his condition, complains.

► Vertigo, sensation as if the anterior half of the brain were turning in a circle.

► Pressure and sensations of heaviness in the forehead ; at times also in occiput ; worse from motion. ► Dull, cutting pain in the brain, begins above the right orbit and extends to the occiput.

► Pressure in the right eyeball, from before backwards and from below upwards. ► Thickened mucus in both canthi.

► Nosebleed, dark blood. ► Pressive heaviness at the root of the nose.

► Earthy complexion, blue around the eyes ; features changed, as if he had been very sick. ► Pressure in the region of the malar bones ; better running about and holding water in mouth.

► Toothache relieved by taking cold water in the mouth ; worse when it becomes warm.

► Taste : sweetish, sour, or metallic, on the back part of the tongue. ► Tongue : red ; coated white, evenings.

► Desires for cold drinks in the evening, but no fever.

► Water is vomited as soon as it reaches the stomach. ► Pressure like a load in the stomach after eating.

► Eructations fetid, cadaverous. ► Nausea at the stomach after eating or nursing. ► Vomiting of bile without effort. ► Vomiting : convulsive gagging and inexpressible pain in the stomach ; after operations on the abdomen. ► Vomits : only at intervals of days when food has filled the stomach ; then vomits enormous quantities, lasting all day ; all fluids.

► Pressure as from a load in one spot. ► Crampy, spasmodic pains in stomach ; burning alternating with pressure ; pressure in spine, must bend backwards. ► Intense malaise in the stomach, with burning ; red or white tongue, restlessness, prostration ; after blood-letting.

► Flatulence.

► Stools : papescent, foul ; watery, cadaverous smelling.

► Copious, frequent, watery.

► Seminal emissions, with lascivious dreams.

► Menstrual blood dark, pitchy.

► Sputa dark, bloody or blood-streaked.

► Crampy, pressive pain through the chest, in the region of the diaphragm, when walking. ► Boring and burning in the chest ; backache.

► Strong heart-beat. ► Pulse : contracted, somewhat spasmodic, and at times intermittent.

► Fine stitches in the centre of the sternum, not affected by breathing.

► Paralytic weariness and weakness in right arm. ► Laming, tearing pressure on right forearm ; more toward outer side ; passes off by motion and touch. ► Tearing in metacarpal bones of right fore and middle fingers. ► Fine tearing in finger-tips of right hand, particularly under the nails.

► Tearing pain below the external malleolus of right foot, terminating at the tendo-achillis. ► Tearing : in the toes ; in the heels, more left.

► Screwing, boring, tearing pressure in the bones of the hands and feet.

► Motion : 3, 32. Walking : 28. Running : 8. Must bend back : 17. After rising : 40.

► Restless, moving about ; anxiety. ► Languor ; prostration.

► Cannot get his accustomed morning nap. ► Frequent waking at night : as from tire. ► Restless sleep, through lascivious dreams, sometimes without, more frequently with seminal emission.

► Morning : 37, 40. Evening : 11, 14. Night : 37. All day : 16.

► Cold water : 8, 10.

► Chill, with deathly coldness of the whole body. ► Flushes of heat over whole body, mostly on head and chest, after rising in the morning. ► External, dry, burning heat.

► Right : 3, 5, 32, 33. Left : 33. Before backwards : 3, 5. Below upwards : 5.

► Sensation of heaviness in internal parts.

► Has been given in cancer of stomach.

► Touch : 32. Scratching : 46. After operations on the abdomen : 17.

► Ulcers gangrenous, bluish ; or dried, parchment-like. ► Corrosive itching aside the tibia and on back of both feet near joints, worse from scratching ; must scratch till it bleeds.

► Antidotes to Bismuth : Calc. oster., Capsic., Nux vom. ► Bismuth. isomorphic with Arsen., Phosphor., Antim., and resembles them in symptoms.
